Martyn George

A new brand platform with a DIY aesthetic

Martyn George was a concept created by renowned food stylist Johanna Lowe. Named for her late father and based on her eye for curating vintage culinary objects, the store opening on Chicago’s west side created a lot of buzz with the food and wine press. We were asked to create and entire brand platform which provided logos, taglines, retail solutions and an e-commerce site that reflected her aesthetic and unique voice. The logo itself was based on a vintage pie tin with scalloped edges and the colors were a reflection of the slate, hotel silver, cast-iron and copper elements seen in the shop. The challenge was to create a sustainable and flexible merchandising strategy that was easy to maintain and scale but retained the DIY aesthetic of the store itself. The result was a system that felt polished but that could easily be maintained to accommodate her busy lifestyle.
